Get Me Paid help
Find clear answers about creating invoices, managing customers, VAT and CIS calculations, PDF delivery, payment tracking and the Get Me Paid subscription.
Get Me Paid focuses on invoice creation and payment organisation for UK freelancers, sole traders and small businesses.
FAQ category
Account setup, verification and workspace configuration.
Get Me Paid is designed for UK freelancers, sole traders, contractors, subcontractors and small businesses that need a focused invoicing workflow rather than a full accounting suite.
Yes. You can choose sole trader as your business type and configure your business details, payment information, invoice defaults and branding without needing to be a limited company.
Registration asks for your name, email address and password. The current form requires a password of at least 8 characters.
Yes. After registration, Get Me Paid sends a 6-digit email verification code. You enter that code on the verification page before continuing to onboarding, and you can request a new code if needed.
Onboarding collects the information used by your workspace, including business details, invoice prefix and defaults, VAT and CIS settings where relevant, payment information, branding colour, logo and invoice template. Some fields are required for invoices, while optional fields can be left blank or updated later.
Yes. Business details, invoice defaults, payment details, branding and customer records can be maintained from settings or customer screens. Changes affect future use of those details; be careful with invoices that have already been sent or downloaded because customers may already have a copy.
Yes. The password reset flow lets you request a reset link and set a new password. The reset form requires the new password to be at least 8 characters and asks you to confirm it.
FAQ category
Customer records, invoice contents, numbering and templates.
Customer records can store company name, contact name, email, phone, address lines, town or city, postcode, country, VAT number, notes, end-user status for Domestic Reverse Charge handling and a payment-terms override. It is practical invoice contact storage, not a complete CRM.
Yes. Existing customer records can be edited within your organisation workspace. The application also supports archived customers, so do not assume customer removal means permanent deletion.
Get Me Paid allocates invoice numbers using your configured invoice prefix and numbering sequence. Number reservation is handled server-side in a database transaction so invoices stay scoped to the organisation.
Yes. Draft invoices can be edited before they are sent, and totals are recalculated when the draft is saved. The current workflow does not make the same editing promise for sent, paid or cancelled invoices.
An invoice can include a customer, issue and due dates, line descriptions, quantities, unit prices, VAT rates, CIS classification for relevant lines, payment terms, notes, and your saved business and payment details.
Yes. The current public GetMePaid plan has unlimited invoices and unlimited customers. This does not imply unlimited organisations or unlimited users.
Yes. The current PDF template options are Classic, Modern and Minimal. You can choose the available template and brand colour, but Get Me Paid does not currently offer a fully custom template designer.
FAQ category
How tax-related invoice calculations are represented.
Yes. VAT registration status and a default VAT rate can be configured, and VAT rates can be applied to invoice lines when your organisation is set as VAT registered.
The current invoice UI supports 0%, 5% and 20% VAT rates. If your business is not marked as VAT registered, invoice VAT is set to 0% by default.
Yes. When CIS is enabled for the organisation, qualifying invoice lines can be included in CIS deduction calculations and the deduction is reflected in the amount payable.
The current CIS rate options are 0%, 20% and 30%. The selected organisation default is used when CIS is applied to an invoice. You remain responsible for choosing the rate that applies.
VAT is calculated as part of the invoice totals. CIS deduction applies to the relevant deductible amount, is shown separately, and the final amount payable reflects the calculation.
No. Get Me Paid can help represent CIS deductions on invoices, but it does not submit CIS returns to HMRC or pay deductions to HMRC.
If you need help submitting CIS returns to HMRC, we recommend our accounting partner Ostoya Accountancy Limited at www.ostoya.co.uk (opens in a new tab).
No. Get Me Paid does not verify subcontractors with HMRC, check registration status or decide employment status.
Yes. Saved invoices can show CIS rate, CIS deduction, CIS deductible subtotal and amount payable on the generated PDF where CIS is enabled.
No. Get Me Paid records the selections you make. It does not decide whether work falls within CIS or whether domestic reverse-charge VAT applies.
No. Get Me Paid helps organise invoice information and calculations. It does not provide tax, accounting or legal advice.
If you need professional tax or accounting advice, we recommend our accounting partner Ostoya Accountancy Limited at www.ostoya.co.uk (opens in a new tab).
FAQ category
PDF generation, email sending and reminder limitations.
Yes. The invoice page includes a private PDF route that generates a branded PDF using your organisation details, payment settings, logo and selected template.
Yes, while the active plan includes email sending. The invoice email is sent to the saved customer email address with the PDF attached, and the sending attempt is recorded as sent or failed where appropriate.
Yes. The invoice detail page shows the invoice before sending and provides a PDF download route, so you can review the visible invoice information and generated PDF before emailing it.
No. Get Me Paid records the invoice sending workflow, but it does not currently claim that the recipient opened or read the email.
No. The current reminder workflow sends due-soon and overdue browser push alerts to eligible Get Me Paid users who have enabled notifications. It does not send automatic debt-chasing emails to invoice recipients.
Not by themselves. Reminder delivery depends on the reminder job being run, the organisation having reminder access, the user having an active push subscription, and the relevant reminder preferences allowing due-soon or overdue reminders.
No. Get Me Paid can send the email through the configured mail provider, but delivery can still be affected by recipient addresses, recipient mail servers and provider behaviour.
FAQ category
Payment recording, status labels and what Get Me Paid does not collect.
Yes. Eligible invoices can be marked as paid, which changes the invoice status and records a paid date.
No. The current invoice workflow records invoice status and paid date, but it does not expose a partial-payment amount ledger in the invoice UI.
You can see invoice totals and amount payable, and paid invoices are separated by status. The current workflow does not automatically calculate a remaining balance from partial payments because partial-payment recording is not exposed.
No. There is no open-banking or bank-feed connection in the current application. Payment information is recorded within the invoice workflow and your saved payment instructions.
No. Customer invoice payments are not automatically detected. You update invoice status within Get Me Paid when you know a payment has been made.
Invoices can be Draft, Sent, Paid, Overdue or Cancelled. The interface presents these as user-friendly status labels rather than requiring you to understand internal enum values.
No. Stripe is used for the Get Me Paid SaaS subscription. The current invoice workflow does not process your customer's payment for an invoice or collect money from your customer on your behalf.
FAQ category
Trial timing, Stripe billing, cancellation and access changes.
The current public plan includes a 30-day no-card free trial. After that, you can choose to subscribe through Stripe Checkout for £4.99 per month to continue creating and sending invoices.
Your 30-day trial starts when your organisation workspace is created. You do not need to go through Stripe Checkout to begin the trial.
No. You can start the 30-day free trial without a payment card. To continue creating and sending invoices after the trial, you will need to subscribe through Stripe Checkout.
You are not charged during the no-card trial. If you choose to subscribe, Stripe Checkout will show the monthly subscription details before payment is set up.
No payment is taken automatically when the 30-day no-card trial ends. To continue creating and sending invoices, you choose to subscribe through Stripe Checkout, where the £4.99 monthly subscription details are shown before payment is set up.
No payment card is collected for the free trial, so there is no paid subscription to cancel during it. You can stop using the service at any time. If you later choose to subscribe, Billing and Stripe's customer portal support eligible subscription changes such as cancellation.
When cancellation is scheduled at period end, access continues until the relevant end date. Cancelling does not imply immediate deletion of existing records.
A short configurable grace period may apply while payment details are updated. After paid access ends, paid features can be restricted.
Existing records remain available in the supported fallback mode, while creation and paid features such as new invoices, new customers, email sending, branding and reminders are restricted. This is not a promise of permanent retention.
There is currently one public monthly plan for Get Me Paid.
The current public subscription price is £4.99 per month. Any applicable tax treatment will be shown during checkout where configured.
FAQ category
Organisation scoping and protected private assets.
Get Me Paid scopes invoices, customers, settings, payment settings, branding, uploaded files and billing records to an organisation. Private application routes check authenticated organisation membership before returning organisation data.
No. Invoice PDFs are generated through an authenticated organisation route and returned with private no-store headers. The route checks that the invoice belongs to the active organisation.
No. Uploaded logos are served through a protected logo endpoint for the active organisation rather than as public static files.
Organisation owners and administrators can manage billing. Other members are shown messaging to ask an owner or admin to manage billing.
